Week 6

Hello to all my Employment English students! As you know, I was sick yesterday and couldn't make it to class. I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you yesterday! Also, thank you for the messages that you sent me!

Because, we didn't study yesterday I'm required to do a 'make up' class (extra class) sometime later this semester. Instead of everybody having to come to the school to do a makeup class, I would like you to prepare an online class where I will give you an assignment (on my website) which you will then have to complete and submit to me two hours later. I think this is a better idea than trying to schedule a time to meet at the school. I will talk to you next Tuesday about that.

This week I asked you to finish your Interview Questions 1-20. I would like you to upload your homework to my website. Also, I would like you to leave a printed copy outside my office door (D501) by 1:00 pm Friday, April 15th. I will check your answers over the weekend and return them to you on Tuesday, April 19th.

Next week from April 19th - April 26th you can practice answering the interview questions using 'Voicethread' which I showed you in class. Don't worry about Voicethread until our next class ok?

Have a great weekend, see you in class next week!

Week 2

I'm pretty happy with what we have done so far in class! Today, I asked you to spend some time to think about what kind of job you'd like to have in the future! I know this is a difficult step but it will help make it easier for you to write a resume (and prepare for an interview) later. Also, if will help you focus on what jobs to apply for which (believe me) will save you a lot of time and energy!

I also think the job profile websites we talked about in class will help you understand what kind of job matches you. We talked about the kinds of benefits companies might offer which should also help you in your job search. Good luck "finding a focus".

Week 1

Hi!

It was nice to meet all of you today and I'm really looking forward to teaching Employment English this semester. I realize finding a job in Korea is very difficult these days so I will do my best to help each of you prepare for not only an English interview but also show you how to write a coherent English resume (+ cover letter).
Hopefully, by the end of the semester you will be more confident about your skills and will be able to successfully enter the work world.

By reading this blog, you will be able to keep up to date on everything that's going on in my class. In this blog, I will also give you directions about how to use my website and other multimedia. Today, I would like to post my first video here to show you how to sign up for my website. I know many of you are good at using computers, so if some of your classmates need help, please help them.

My second video shows you how to upload a picture and introduce yourself on my website. To view the link please click here.

If you have any problems, please come to my office for assistance.
